What does “winter fun” mean to Central New York kids? It’s all about the snow, at least according to students at Syracuse’s Huntington Pre-K-8 School who submitted works to Family Times’ eighth annual cover art contest. The artists, in grades 5, 6 and 7, favored sledding and snowpeople in their drawings and paintings. Two designers in Family Times’ Creative Services Department chose the winning artwork, by Brooke Matthews, which is on the magazine’s cover. F  amily Times won three awards in the annual Parenting Media Association competition, announced at the PMA annual convention in Philadelphia on March 1. The PMA is the national association that represents regional parenting publications; it has more than 100 members. Family Times became a member in 2002, when the magazine started publishing, and since then it’s earned a total of 32 awards, including the last three. Family Times and the Syracuse New Times are owned by publisher Bill Brod.

Family Times’ 10th annual Summer Fun and Camp Fair, sponsored by Driver’s Village, returns to the State Fairgrounds in Geddes on Saturday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parents get a chance to plan their summer in just one day by talking with representatives from area day camps, summer programs, attractions and day-trip destinations.
