    Lights on the Lake

    A Central New York holiday tradition for over 30 years, Lights on the Lake is the region’s premier drive-through holiday light show. Stretching two miles along the scenic Onondaga Lake Parkway, this dazzling display features larger-than-life holiday scenes, animated light tunnels, and themed sections that celebrate the magic of the season. Visitors can stay cozy in their cars as they enjoy millions of twinkling lights set to festive music—all from the comfort of their vehicle. Open nightly from 5 to 10 p.m., Lights on the Lake is the perfect outing for families, friends, and couples alike. Admission varies by vehicle and can be purchased online in advance. Bundle up, grab some cocoa, and make Lights on the Lake part of your family’s holiday tradition!

    Gingerbread Gallery

    Did you know the Gingerbread Gallery began as one-day event in 1986? Now an annual event, the Museum transforms into a charming 1800s canal town decked out for the holidays. From November 21 through January 11, visitors can stroll past windows filled with whimsical gingerbread creations—each one handcrafted entirely from edible materials and inspired by canal life, local landmarks, and imaginative holiday themes. A beloved Syracuse tradition that welcomes more than 4,000 guests each year, the Gingerbread Gallery offers fun for all ages. Admission includes full museum access and is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $5 for children ages 3–17, and free for kids 2 and under. Don’t miss this sweet and festive showcase of creativity and community spirit!

    Dickens’ Christmas

    📍 Genesee, Jordan, and Fennell Streets, Skaneateles

    Immerse your family in the charm of the season at Dickens Christmas in historic Skaneateles, running weekends from November 28 through December 24. This unique, interactive celebration brings the year 1842 to life, complete with street-theater performances featuring Charles Dickens, Queen Victoria and Washington Irving wandering the village — and plenty of photo ops, caroling at the gazebo, horse-drawn wagon rides, and special events for children. From Roasted chestnuts and eggnog to whimsical snowman-building contests and a “Shop, Sip & Stroll” evening on December 11th, it’s a full-on festive experience that delights all ages.     Clinton Square Ice Rink

    The Clinton Square Ice Rink first opened in 2001, and has become one of Syracuse’s most popular winter attractions. The rink is open daily until mid-March (hours are weather-dependent), but if you visit during the holiday season, you can take in the city’s Christmas tree as you skate.

    Holiday Sleigh Rides at Burnet Park

    📍 Burnet Park, Syracuse, NY

    Bundle up and enjoy a classic winter tradition with Holiday Sleigh Rides at Burnet Park! Families can take a festive horse-drawn ride through the beautifully illuminated park, soaking in the sights and sounds of the season. After the ride, stop by Santa’s Workshop where kids can create holiday crafts and meet Santa himself. A magical and affordable outing for all ages — just $2 per person. Registration is required.

    Disney On Ice presents Road Trip Adventures

    Buckle up and hit the ice for a high-energy, cross-generational adventure when Disney On Ice takes you on the ultimate “road trip” through your favorite worlds! Join Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy and more as they zoom through whimsical destinations like the sun-soaked world of Moana on Motunui, journey across the Pride Lands with Simba, Timon and Pumbaa, soar into Aladdin’s princely parade, and spin through a larger-than-life carnival with Woody, Bo Peep and their new friend Forky.
