Named in honor of Marquis de Lafayette, the village of Fayetteville was incorporated in 1844. These days, it has various parks and activities that can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Parks and Nature Centers

Green Lakes State Park
This state park offers many activities, whether you want to stay for the day or rent a cabin for a weekend. Visitors can take advantage of trails, picnic tables and pavilions, campsites, a golf course, a beach, a concession stand, and a new $3 million playground, all spread around the two lakes and the forest.

Canal Landing Park
Situated next to Limestone Creek, Canal Landing Park is filled with trails, fitness stations, a playground, and a bridge that links you to the Erie Canal trails.

Huntington Beard Memorial Park
Visit Huntington Beard Memorial Park to take a nice stroll, sit and enjoy nature, or attend a summer concert. Ice skating is also available in the winter when the pond freezes over.

Stickley Museum
The free museum is housed in the same building as the Fayetteville Free Library. Inside, you will find more than a century of craftsmanship over the 8,000-foot exhibit.

Matilda Joslyn Gage Center
Visit the many rooms of this museum devoted to Matilda Joslyn Gage, hailed by its website as “a human rights champion.” Those rooms include Women’s Rights, Religious Freedom, and the Underground Railroad.
